This exception occurs when there is a temporary failure in establishing or maintaining a connection between the client application and the Exchange server.

Due to this error, regular business operations can be disrupted. It doesn’t allow users to send, receive, or access emails or use other exchange server resources. This disruption may lead to productivity loss, communication delay, or data loss.

In brief, When you try to open the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) to manage your Exchange Server or servers, you may get a connection failed error. The complete error message reads as follows:

CAUSES:

1. Network instability: Unstable network connectivity or delay issues can cause trouble in communication between the client and exchange server.
2. Server overload: During peak hours or maintenance activities, there are high server loads, which reduces the capacity of the server to handle incoming requests, leading to connection failures.
3. Configuration errors: Misconfigurations in the client application or exchange server settings, for example-invalid credentials, invalid server address, etc., can cause connection failures.

2. server monitoring: Install and activate monitoring solutions to track server performance and allocate resource strategies to reduce overload.
3. configuration validation: Reviewing regularly and validate client applications and exchange server configuration for ensuring capability and accuracy.

Step 1: First ensure that all emails are working correctly or not. If the users can send and receive emails using their locally installed Outlook, this will ensure that the business is still running. However, if users cannot send or receive emails, then there is a fault/error that needs to be solved instantly.

Step 2: Now, track the changes from when the web apps were working till you identified that the web apps started showing the error.<

Step 3: Properly check the Windows Logs (above snapshot); you can then go and check the related errors in the Exchange section under Microsoft, which is in the Applications and Services section. Although any issue with services and others will be shown in the Windows Logs (see the below snapshot), you will find Exchange Server-specific event messages that might help with the investigation.

Step 4: Now, ensure that the services of the Exchange Server are running and have started without any issues. The next thing is to check the event viewer for any related error message or any information that would help in identifying the issue. Sometimes, the Exchange Server shows an error that is too generic. But when viewing the entries in the Event Viewer, you can find the cause of the issue or at least a direct indication of the problem. To look before starting to troubleshoot, check the event viewer.

Step 5: Try to understand if this error is specific to a particular mailbox, all mailboxes, or to the Exchange Admin Center (EAC). Getting a sample of users and getting them to log in to their Outlook Web Access (OWA). If more than one Exchange Admin user exists, try to log into the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) to ensure that the problem is global or with a specific user.

Check the status of the mailbox database where the affected mailboxes are located. First, check if there are any issues with the copy status, then check the database.

If there is a problem with the copy status of the database, this will give the problem /indication and check if the database is mounted or not. If the database is not mounted, you can try to mount the database via the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) or by using the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) if another user is working.

Note: Now, if all steps go well, the database mounts, and the users can connect with the specific database. But if the database fails to mount, there could be the possibility of a corrupted database or logs.
